National Portrait Gallery

I want to go see the Asian American Portraits of Encounter Exhibit at the National Portrait Gallery in DC. In fact, I plan to. And if you’re in the area, you should, too.

The run down is this: seven (seven!) Asian American artists, some native and some transplanted, will be on display at the National Gallery in Washington DC. The exhibit is up now, until October 14, 2012.

Meditate on the deep aesthetic meaning of portraiture, gazing both at the self and at the other, either of which may operate independently of the piece’s subject. Gaze at the pieces, invoke the power of the pieces! Write some thoughts about the pieces that actually make sense! Because really, it looks like some cool stuff.
